First Day Of School 2015!
Oh my goodness! If you had asked me to predict this day I would have failed miserably. My first day of highschooler Maggie took the bus, I would have never predicted that because she has been talking about being driven and NOT taking the bus all summer. The twins wanted to be driven on their first day of middle school since their last day of elementary school and they would check in with me periodically throughout the summer just to make sure I was still on board with it.
I walk a happy Maggie to the bus (at her request) and then it’s time to take the twins, Olivia & Sophia. Fear of the unknown runs high in my family and it starts with me unfortunately. Honestly, I can’t blame them I do remember how nervous I was on the first day of middle school and high school and my mom often reminds me that I cried almost everyday of kindergarten (I wonder where they get it from) So the girls nervously go the bathroom about 3 times each (again, that all comes from me) we get to the school and the girls see all the bigger kids waiting outside and they won’t get out of the car. (oh no!) They ask me to park so they can get more comfortable, Sophia says “mom, I don’t think I can do this” and I told her “of course you can let’s just wait until everybody goes inside” once they open the doors and everyone goes inside I tell the girls they should go in now and they say “drive us around we don’t want to get out here” so I do and luckily in front of us is their friend Julia. I think they were instantly relieved to see a familiar face but not instantly de-stressed. Thank God for Julia and the timing of her being dropped of on the first day of school. Sophia was so nervous that she got out of the car so quickly to walk in with Julia she forgot to give me a kiss but that’s okay I’m sure she will be comforted again later in the day by the note from me in her lunchbox : )
Happy first day of school!
